WHY TRUE FUN HAS BECOME IMPOSSIBLE AND YOUR MISERABLE. EARNEST MANN’S: AUTHORITARIAN WATCH EP.4 PC# 442

The Death of Fun: How Corporate America Killed Joy and Youthful Freedom

Hello, Earnest Mann here. In this episode, I’m talking straight to the younger generation, especially those 18 to 30, about what it really means to live and have fun—something most folks today have tragically lost touch with. It’s not just nostalgia; it’s about how corporate America, since the Reagan era, has systematically destroyed freedom, spontaneity, and human connection under the banner of profit.

From Sex and Rock 'n Roll to Obedience and Emptiness

Back in the day, fun meant sex, rock and roll, and beer—not pills, not vodka-fueled rage. I break down how my generation understood boundaries—steering clear of druggies and drunks—because we weren’t trying to self-destruct. We were there to enjoy life, not spiral into dysfunction. Today’s so-called freedom is corporate-approved fun: sterile, bland, and monitored.

The Real Reason You Hate Work (And Don’t Know Why)

Let me be blunt—the job you hate, the life that feels empty, the reason your boss treats you like trash—that’s no accident. Since 1980, corporations have manipulated laws and culture to strip workers of power. You’re discouraged from questioning anything, let alone missing work for actual fun. Corporate profit is now America's number one religion, and any joy that distracts from it is labeled subversive.

Why “Fun” Has Been Made Illegal

This isn’t exaggeration. You get fired if you aren’t 110% corporate-enthusiast. Unapproved joy? That’s now criminal. I explain why being human—angry, joyful, free—is now considered dangerous. It’s not just about rules. It’s about control. Watch Office Space if you don’t believe me—it’s funny because it’s horrifyingly true.

00:00 Some say I'm a vulgar man. Hell, maybe I am. But there's often a whole lot of truth buried in vulgarity. Look, if fbombs and real talk crack your delicate little teacup, go elsewhere. There's a ton of corporatized and feminized non-offensive YouTube content out there that won't disturb your fragile sensibilities, make you flinch, or think.

00:28 But for those who can handle it, I live by the words of the late great Jimmyi Hendris. I'm the one that's got to die when it's time for me to die. So, let me live my life and say things the way I want two. It really totally saddens me that most younger people today, and I'm talking about people from roughly 18 to 30, don't have any real concept of what it is to actually have fun.

ed gradually, basically since:

01:58 So as an American timeline marker, that's basically all you need to know. That's when the quality of life for most Americans began to spiral down. And that nightmare has continued unabated to this day. So, I need to diverge for just a moment to help you have a better understanding. Like many people of my generation, yes, I had my fun.

02:21 The common moniker is sex, drugs, and rock and roll. But for me and just about anyone I knew back then, it was more like sex, rock and roll, and primarily beer. And there's a huge distinction and difference in that that needs to be briefly explained. Now, I don't want to sound naive or boy scoutish.

re definitely drugs around in:

03:15 PCP, aka angel dust, which often would make a person suddenly become completely psychotic, cocaine, and of course, marijuana. Probably admittedly, the least harmful being marijuana. But just because I say it was the least harmful doesn't mean it also wasn't really bad. It's not that marijuana in and of itself, assuming it hasn't been laced with anything, makes you violent.

03:45 Quite the contrary, it simply turned your brain, especially over time, to mush. Habitual users simply slowly became harmless, nonfunctioning imbeciles. I'm sure I left out quite a few drugs by name, but hopefully you get the point. The next category is actually much simpler to describe. Drunks. Drunks or alcoholics, if you will, generally go for actual booze.

04:18 Quite often, vodka because it's relatively cheap. But anything else as well, as long as it's around 80 proof, they can afford it or can parasite off someone else to drink it. That's all that matters. And for them, it has nothing to do with being social or having fun. It's about them getting drunk. That's it.

04:43 So, in summary, the irony of what these two distinct groups do have in common is that they are both utterly selfish despite initial or outward appearances. They're not there to have fun or engage in group dynamics. Their idea of fun, which is completely dysfunctional, is only about them. And anyone out there who is not a druggie or drunk knows exactly what I'm talking about.

05:16 It only takes one utterly dysfunctional drunk to completely ruin an evening, often from violence and sometimes death. This is the reason why even way back then, even though we were young, we avoided them, didn't invite them to parties, and forcibly turned them away if they just happened to crash the party.

05:42 So, to return to the original, we still did a lot of things and we had a lot of fun. And to reiterate, that meant a lot of sex and music because back then the girls or young women if you like didn't act like banshee screaming lesbians with daddy issues and really into hating men and blaming them for everything imaginable and some things quite unimaginable.

06:13 Yep, those girls really enjoyed And all I can say about that is wherever you may be, Barbara Seville, God bless you. But as you all should at least probably know, if there is anything enjoyable or good, corporate interest must destroy it. There are several reasons for this. One of which is that if people are actually enjoying their life too much, meaning actually, I don't know, having some fun, they might begin to question the reason for working at all.

06:51 I know we all have to work and eat and all that. That's self-evident, unless you're a druggie or a drunk. But I'm talking about something else. is something that the last two generations largely isn't even aware of. The freedom and peace of mind to literally be able to tell your boss to go themselves or knock the living out of them if they got on your nerves.

07:22 both of which I did on several occasions, but now would put you in prison for several years because the corporate state always protects the merchants under the guise of law and order. I'm telling you all of this now because the reason why this is relevant in order to move forward and improve the current situation is you can't do that very effectively if you don't have a clear understanding of how the hell you got to where you are in the first place.

07:59 Am I making any sense here? Remember all that partying I was just talking about when people were having something that used to be referred to as having fun? The reason people did that is that they totally understood even if just intuitively that the be all and end all of a person's existence should not be work.

08:28 And there's an old adage that says all work and no play makes Billy a dull boy. Well, with what I know now in the 21st century, I would add that all work makes Billy more than just a dull boy. It makes him a narcissistic psychopathic boy, unable to connect with or relate to other human beings. the android posing as a human being, Mark Buckerberg being a perfect example.

09:04 But the reason why this has changed is just like so many of the things directly or indirectly connected to America's absolute number one religion, corporate financial profit. Now, this is admittedly for time consideration a gross oversimplification, but in order to maximize profits, the corporation demands an absolute obedient and subservient workforce, meaning, you know, wage slaves.

09:36 They don't want to spend an additional nickel hiring new workers, and they sure as hell don't want workers to unionize. So any employees that show even the slightest dislike or distrust of any company or may miss any time at work because heaven forbid they were actually enjoying themselves or their life just a bit too much and didn't show up on time for work Monday or were not willing to give 110% team effort.

ad, I couldn't suggest seeing:

10:53 It was a movie that thoroughly and quite hilariously illustrates perfectly the reality that has come to be today. I'll just end with this. The inhumanity of the nihilistic corporate dream that has been forced upon us is antihuman at its core. And that is what is making us so isolated and mentally and physically sick.

11:21 Because for all intents and purposes, having actual fun has been made illegal as their only wish is people's complete and total subjugation. And that sure as hell is no fun. But I sure as hell want you to have fun. So, park your ass here every Monday and Friday and do subscribe and hit that notification bell because it does help the algorithm which helps the channel grow and I sure as hell appreciate that.

11:59 Until next Monday or Friday, this is Nest and I usually always am.

About the Podcast

The Earnest Mann Show
A truly unique broadcast, Unabashedly celebrating unwokeness.
One of the many things I enjoy doing in life, is helping other people the best way I know how, by offering people a sanctuary of sanity in a world gone mad. I do this by offering a different perspective, a realist perspective on just about anything and everything. You see, I have found, that there can be amazing relevant connections in our everyday life, from very unlikely sources, meaning people that on the surface you might think would absolutely have nothing in common with you, but having a discussion with them, ended up benefiting my life, just with the exact information, and at the exact time I needed it! I'm telling you, you will be amazed at how communications with many life experiences can positively affect and improve your life! That is why I created The Earnest Mann Show, a place where we can talk about anything. From history, to current events, economics, politics and religion, to sex with space aliens, you name it, the topics for discussion are only as limited as our imagination, and your input, so leave a comment, because your opinion matters, in this big beautiful world we all share.
