HAVE PROBLEMS? THE BEST ADVICE IN THE WORLD IS USELESS WITHOUT THIS ACTION. EP.35

The Real Reason You're Still Stuck: You're Not Listening

Hey, this is Earnest Mann, and in this episode of Advanced Perception, I'm breaking down something that hardly anyone talks about — the one core reason so many of your problems are still hanging around: you're not listening. It's not just about missing information. It's about being too distracted to hear what actually matters.

Why Distraction Is Destroying Your Progress

I lay it out plain — your so-called smartphone is the biggest culprit. You're constantly being hit with endless notifications, social media noise, and mindless entertainment. These things are engineered to steal your attention, and if you're always distracted, even the best advice in the world won’t stick.

I don’t claim to have all the answers — but I do have useful, direct advice tailored to your problems. The problem? Most people are too distracted to ask the right questions, and too zoned out to hear the answers when they're offered.

Entertainment Overload and the Collapse of Communication

We're living in an era where everything — even what should be important — is turned into entertainment. I explore how modern culture, just like ancient Rome’s bread and circuses, uses distractions to keep people from asking hard questions. We've lost our ability to communicate meaningfully — stuck in a cycle of surface-level chatter and superficial content.

A Wake-Up Call for the Chronically Distracted

This episode is more than a rant — it’s a wake-up call. I explain why taking just 10 minutes to fully listen can shift your entire trajectory. It's not about me talking; it's about you finally hearing something that could change your life. Because the biggest reason you're stuck... is that you're not really listening.

I would like to meet - both online and in person - individuals interested in discussing ideas on what really needs to be changed, to improve the quality of our lives.

So if you have a suggestion for an episode topic, or simply want to reach out to me for help, you can reach me via my website's contact page - https://theearnestmannshow.com/aboutcontact - and I will get back to you ASAP.

I'm not promising miracles, but my advice is often a hell of a lot better - and certainly cheaper - than a therapist!.

Hello, my name is Ernest and this is

0:09

Advanced Perception where a very

0:12

lifeexperienced old guy like me offers

0:15

unconventional advice on a variety of

0:17

life situations and troubles. Now, let's

0:21

jump into this.

0:24

I want to fill you in on something that

0:26

actually very few people know about

0:31

and that is the fact that many of your

0:36

life issues or problems

0:39

are compounded by one simple problem.

0:43

You're not listening.

0:46

Now

0:48

lots of people have lots of information

0:52

especially here on you know places like

0:55

YouTube or podcast.

0:58

Many of them claim that uh in one way or

1:02

the other they have the answer. They may

1:06

in fact claim that they have the answers

1:10

to your problems.

1:13

But the problem with that is it's

1:15

ridiculous from the very beginning

1:18

because really, how in the hell can they

1:20

have answers to your problems when your

1:24

problems are unique?

1:26

Now, I'm claiming that I do have answers

1:30

to your problems, but what says this

1:34

apart is that I want to talk about your

1:38

problems specifically.

1:40

Now, in order for that to happen, you

1:45

have to actually be listening.

1:49

And overall, by and large,

1:52

um there's no communication between us

1:56

because the questions are not being

1:59

asked. The questions I'm saying coming

2:02

from you are not being asked.

2:05

And they're not being asked for this

2:07

simple reason. You're too damn

2:10

distracted.

2:12

And you can't get the information if

2:16

you're constantly distracted.

2:19

And I probably don't need to tell you

2:22

what those distractions are, but I'm

2:26

going to do that anyway. I'm talking

2:28

about the million distractions that you

2:30

have. And the vast majority of them come

2:35

from the so-called smartphones.

2:39

I'm talking about constantly being

2:42

besieged by just endless dril.

2:46

Anything whatsoever, anything that could

2:49

be thought of to keep you distracted.

2:53

So the people such as myself that really

2:57

want to help you, even if I had the best

3:03

information in the world, it's not going

3:06

to get through at all if uh you're not

3:10

listening.

3:12

So it's a a big circle. It's the dog

3:16

chasing its tail kind of scenario.

3:19

Now, if you want to have those issues in

3:25

your life addressed,

3:27

you're going to have to do that

3:28

yourself.

3:30

But you will also need proper

3:34

information to do that. And once again,

3:38

if you want that kind of information,

3:42

you're going to get it by listening and

3:46

asking questions.

3:48

And I'm really surprised a lot of times

3:52

that I've given people I mean even on a

3:55

personal level I've given them a world

3:58

of information

4:00

and I get the deer in the headlights

4:03

look and they say, "Uh-huh. Okay." And

4:08

then I run into them, I don't know, a

4:11

few weeks or a month or so later, and I

4:14

bring up what the, you know, what they

4:16

were talking about, what the issue was

4:18

in their life, and I said, "Well, did

4:20

you do you try as I said this, this,

4:24

that, and the other?" Oh, no, no, no. I

4:26

I haven't gotten around to it. I'm too

4:27

busy.

4:31

So, there you have it.

4:33

It always goes full circle that the best

4:37

message in the world, and I don't care

4:40

what it is, the best message in the

4:42

world does nothing if it falls on death

4:47

ears.

4:50

So, what do we do about that? Well, if

4:52

you're me,

4:54

uh, you do what I'm doing right now. you

4:57

uh try to bring you know people into a

5:01

state of awareness about this and part

5:05

of that is to let them know that you do

5:08

have something which is actively meant

5:13

it is purposely designed and actually

5:16

meant to constantly distract you.

5:21

if you would set aside I don't know 10

5:25

minutes what whatever the length of this

5:29

particular episode is and if you do that

5:33

it might break that uh uh that

5:37

distraction wave as I call it and uh you

5:42

might say hm wow that sounds really

5:45

interesting maybe I should uh maybe I

5:48

should check into this or I mean It's

5:51

not costing you anything. In other

5:53

words, you have nothing to lose. Uh the

5:56

only thing you do have to lose is if

6:01

you're not listening.

6:05

Listening is something that is very

6:09

important, but it all depends on, you

6:13

know, what you're listening to.

6:16

And if you want to spend your time

6:18

constantly listening to things which

6:22

ultimately don't really have a damn bit

6:26

of usage in your life or anyone's life,

6:29

a bigger picture, let's say. If it

6:32

doesn't, you know, even remotely attempt

6:37

to answer the problems of the bigger

6:40

picture, let's say, then it's time

6:43

wasted.

6:45

Then when you total all of this up,

6:49

whether it be over the, you know, course

6:51

of a few weeks or a few months or hell,

6:56

even a few years, and you look back on

6:59

all this and not really a damn thing has

7:02

changed. Well, it hasn't changed because

7:07

you weren't listening. And apparently

7:09

for that reason you don't exactly get

7:13

how important the message is. So as a

7:16

consequence you don't act. So as a

7:19

consequence of that nothing really

7:22

changes.

7:23

So again we're constantly in a loop. Now

7:27

remember as I said this is by design.

7:32

It's not by accident. It is out of

7:36

design.

7:38

One of the main reasons for this that

7:40

the controlling interest in this country

7:44

and society as a whole is that and they

7:48

found this out for instance it's the yes

7:50

it's the old thing of you know going

7:53

back to the time of Rome and bread and

7:56

circuses

7:58

is that if you keep the masses of people

8:00

occupied enough just it doesn't matter

8:03

what it is just anything doesn't matter

8:06

you could any you know uh ads

8:09

information anything you know mother in

8:12

Kolkata has baby with six heads and then

8:15

you know make a 45minute docky series

8:18

out of that you know that kind of

8:20

nonsense um the point is is to keep them

8:23

distracted and entertained

8:27

now I don't necessarily per se have a

8:31

problem with entertainment

8:34

but when everything is And I mean

8:37

everything, including what's supposed to

8:39

be important in life, is based on

8:43

entertainment.

8:45

Yeah. Yeah. I I have a I have a problem

8:48

with that because like I said, you end

8:51

up wasting away your entire life and you

8:55

haven't really gotten anywhere.

8:57

So with this just this very message all

9:01

I'm all I'm really trying to put across

9:03

here is that I want to give on my end I

9:08

like to give the most useful practical

9:12

good advice that I can

9:15

but if no one's reacting

9:18

you're either not hearing my voice or

9:21

again you're too damn distracted.

9:24

Now I, you know, I go on YouTube

9:28

regularly and I check same thing with my

9:32

podcast

9:33

and I check the audio is just fine. So

9:37

because of that, the only other thing

9:39

that's left is that apparently again no

9:44

one's listening. So

9:47

um what does one say? I mean, what do

9:51

what do you what do you what do you say

9:53

about this? Um, well, you say you have a

9:56

society that is so busy surviving, you

10:02

know, work and all the other things that

10:04

that entails, you know, culture, hustle,

10:08

hustle, culture and everything else.

10:11

They are they are simply so distracted

10:14

that I suppose they feel as though that

10:18

if they dedicated just a whopping 10

10:21

minutes to actually put distractions

10:24

away and actually focus that somehow

10:27

it's I don't know they're they're going

10:29

to lose something when actually um it's

10:35

it's entirely the reverse.

10:38

Um it's been my observation that this

10:42

society is um has lost its ability to

10:47

basically communicate

10:49

except on again the simplest most

10:52

superficial level like uh I don't know

10:55

when they go out and order a combo meal

10:59

or um you know celebrity gossip or

11:02

anything else that is just totally

11:06

superficial and actually when it boils

11:09

right down to it has really nothing good

11:12

or productive to offer to their lives.

11:17

So I just wanted to take this

11:19

opportunity

11:21

um to put this out here and uh hopefully

11:25

to get your thoughts and um thoughts

11:29

about anything. But the important part

11:32

is just to put this out here to see how

11:36

many of you

11:39

uh my subscribers or what have you out

11:41

there

11:43

um are actually listening and um you

11:47

know want to give me a comment or a

11:49

thought or anything that's on your mind.

11:53

I mean, after all, you wouldn't go to a

11:56

tavern or a pub or some other kind of

11:59

local watering hole where you're

12:01

supposed to do something called

12:04

socializing with other people and

12:06

immediately sit there and pop out your

12:09

smartphone and start paging through that

12:13

and absolutely ignoring all the other

12:15

people around you. Would you?

12:19

Would you?

12:22

I hope you found this helpful or

12:24

interesting. And if you have any

12:26

questions about this or any of my other

12:28

episodes, you can reach out to me via my

12:31

contact link in the description below.

12:34

And if you really want to give me a

12:35

compliment besides hitting that

12:38

subscribe button, telling a friend about

12:40

the show would be the best compliment

12:43

you could ever give me. Until next time,

12:46

this is Ernest and that's all I've got

12:49

for today.

About the Podcast

The Earnest Mann Show
A truly unique broadcast, Unabashedly celebrating unwokeness.
One of the many things I enjoy doing in life, is helping other people the best way I know how, by offering people a sanctuary of sanity in a world gone mad. I do this by offering a different perspective, a realist perspective on just about anything and everything. You see, I have found, that there can be amazing relevant connections in our everyday life, from very unlikely sources, meaning people that on the surface you might think would absolutely have nothing in common with you, but having a discussion with them, ended up benefiting my life, just with the exact information, and at the exact time I needed it! I'm telling you, you will be amazed at how communications with many life experiences can positively affect and improve your life! That is why I created The Earnest Mann Show, a place where we can talk about anything. From history, to current events, economics, politics and religion, to sex with space aliens, you name it, the topics for discussion are only as limited as our imagination, and your input, so leave a comment, because your opinion matters, in this big beautiful world we all share.
