THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU NEED TO LEARN IN LIFE... IS HOW TO LEARN. EP. 30 PT. 1
How to Learn What Truly Matters: Unlocking Perception, Will, and Real Change
Hey, it's Earnest Mann. In this episode, I talk about something most folks never question—how we actually learn and why your perception might be playing tricks on you. Too many people think they’ve got life all figured out… until it kicks their ass. I’m breaking down the truth about awareness, perception, and the will—not in theory, but in terms that actually mean something to your everyday experience.
The Apple Metaphor: Learning How to Process Life
I use a simple metaphor—eating an apple—to show how advanced perception works. Just like you can’t swallow an apple whole without choking, you can’t take in life all at once and expect to make sense of it. You’ve got to break it down, process it, understand the parts. That’s what most people miss. You’re not feeding just your body. You’re feeding your will. And that will—along with awareness—is what shapes who you really are.
Why Knowing How to Learn Beats Just Knowing Stuff
You can’t build a solid life if you’re stuck with a broken learning model. I show how many people are trying to “navigate” life like blindfolded strangers in a room, searching for something they’ve never seen. You’ve got to learn how to learn, not just collect information. That’s the real skill set that gets you unstuck and moving forward.
Strength of Character Starts With Perception
Most people don’t even realize that their reactions to life come from a very limited understanding of what’s really going on. You can’t trust your perception until you’ve earned the ability to verify reality. I talk about why character strength, awareness, and the will are all tied together—and why without them, you’re just sitting next to a car you can’t drive.
I would like to meet - both online and in person - individuals interested in discussing ideas on what really needs to be changed, to improve the quality of our lives.

Most of us, especially in youth, think
0:03
we know everything. Then life just
0:07
laughs and thoroughly kicks you in the
0:10
ass. And maybe, just maybe, after going
0:13
through enough of life's ass kickings,
0:17
the idea might begin to dawn on you that
0:20
maybe you don't know nearly as much as
0:24
you think you do. Hello, my name is
0:27
Ernest. Welcome. Let's jump right into
0:30
this. For those of you that have been
0:34
listening to what I've had to say about
0:37
life, particularly as what concerns
0:40
using advanced perception to improve it,
0:43
this may come as a surprise to you, but
0:46
I never intended for anyone to believe
0:49
that using advanced perception should be
0:52
first and foremost in their lives. It is
0:56
simply an extremely effective tool to
0:58
help you survive and prosper through
1:01
life's many ups, downs, and extreme
1:04
challenges that inevitably come your
1:08
way. Nothing more.
1:11
Now, I don't want to imply that advanced
1:15
perception is the only tool in the
1:17
toolbox of life to help you get through
1:20
it. The primary importance is always
1:24
awareness of the will.
1:27
Here is a little visual for your mind's
1:30
eye that I believe should be more
1:32
effective to help you quickly and easily
1:35
conceptualize what I'm about to say
1:39
rather than a long explanation would
1:42
because I want you to get the concept,
1:45
not fall asleep.
1:47
Let's say you're hungry, so you want to
1:50
eat an apple because you recognize that
1:53
obviously an apple is food. So you know
1:57
you have to consume the apple because
2:00
the apple has vitamins, minerals, and
2:02
calories.
2:05
But very few people, if anyone for that
2:08
matter, would attempt to consume the
2:10
apple by simply swallowing it whole. Not
2:14
only because it would be very difficult
2:16
for your stomach and digestive tract to
2:20
process the apple, but the very high
2:23
probability that you could probably die
2:27
by choking trying to swallow a whole
2:30
apple. Most people, even on an intuitive
2:34
level, understand this. Unless, of
2:36
course, you're Robert Kennedy Jr.
2:41
So of course you bite into, chew up and
2:44
begin swallowing the apple. The process
2:46
of eating the apple. You were breaking
2:50
down the apple into pieces and parts
2:53
that the digestive process can begin in
2:57
turn breaking down even further in the
3:00
stomach which in turn gets further
3:03
processed through the large and small
3:05
intestinal tract which in turn it gets
3:09
continuously processed and broken down
3:12
into smaller and smaller components
3:15
which eventually ends up feeding us.
3:20
This process is pretty much the same for
3:23
everything we consume and that is
3:26
essentially what keeps us alive. I'm
3:30
sure that just about all of you
3:32
understand this
3:34
except Robert Kennedy Jr. of course, but
3:38
the process goes deeper, much deeper.
3:42
This process continues not just on the
3:45
initial biological level I just
3:47
described, but on the atomic level, then
3:51
to the subatomic level. And you can now
3:54
think of those particles as food, if you
3:58
will. Those atomic and subatomic
4:01
particles are what essentially feeds the
4:05
will. But it's what's in conjunction
4:08
with that, the elements that are what
4:11
also feeds the will, which in very broad
4:15
terms is what determines not only your
4:18
state of being alive, but your character
4:21
or what is otherwise commonly recognized
4:24
as a person's strength of character.
4:29
It is not what creates you per se, but
4:34
it is what actually actualizes and
4:37
facilitates what you are.
4:41
Now, what is incredibly important to
4:43
understand here is that if you didn't
4:46
know what I just told you, you simply
4:50
don't understand what it is exactly
4:53
you're doing or perhaps not doing in
4:57
your life moments. And that is a very
5:01
important thing.
5:03
What I'm trying to illustrate here is
5:06
that you act or react to whatever is
5:10
going on in your life based on your
5:13
knowledge of how you perceive what's
5:16
going on around you.
5:18
A very simple example of this which just
5:22
about everyone on the planet now
5:24
understands that that when your stomach
5:26
is growling without going into all the
5:30
biological processes taking place that
5:33
causes that the vast majority of us
5:36
would understand we're hungry. We know
5:39
that we need to eat. Hell, I'd be
5:42
willing to bet that even Robert Kennedy
5:45
Jr. could figure that out.
5:48
But what if you didn't know that? Now, I
5:52
fully realize the question I just asked
5:54
seems silly, but I'm trying to
5:57
illustrate a point.
5:59
The only way a person can pretty much
6:01
trust their perception of reality is
6:05
after they have learned the methodology
6:08
to verify that their interpretation of
6:11
any given situation or reality is
6:14
correct.
6:16
To put this another way as succinctly as
6:19
possible, dealing with the many aspects
6:22
of your life without learning how to
6:26
learn rather than what to learn would be
6:30
like me describing and asking you to
6:33
find an object you've never seen before
6:36
in your life in a room you've never been
6:40
in blindfolded.
6:43
If I could just take a moment for this
6:45
pitch. Here's the amazing and incredible
6:48
Earnest Man tote bag.
6:51
Christ, which can be all yours for a
6:54
very reasonable donation by just
6:57
clicking on the link in the description
6:59
below. It's sturdy and holds a lot of
7:02
ramen noodles. No, seriously, it it
7:06
holds a a lot of ramen noodles.
7:10
I believe that you would have to agree
7:12
with me that your chances of finding
7:14
that particular object would be very low
7:17
to almost impossible
7:21
and that is the primary reason the
7:24
domino effect if you will why you're not
7:28
getting anywhere as you can't learn
7:30
anything if you don't know how to learn
7:35
or in conclusion I would just like to
7:38
put this one more way.
7:42
This would be like someone standing
7:44
right beside a beautiful nice shiny car
7:47
telling the person standing next to them
7:50
all the places they plan to go and see
7:53
and experience.
7:55
But what the other person listening
7:57
doesn't know is that the person telling
8:00
them this has never even driven a car in
8:05
their life and they don't even have a
8:08
driver's license.
8:10
I hope you found this helpful or at
8:13
least interesting. And if you have any
8:16
questions, you can reach out to me via
8:18
my website link in the description
8:21
below. And if you really want to give me
8:24
a compliment, telling a friend about the
8:26
show would be the best compliment you
8:28
could ever give me. Until next time,
8:32
this is Ernest and that's all I've got
8:35
for today.
